Page Maps "A Sweethaven Summer" Sketch Contest
I can't believe it's be forever and a day since I put something on my blog. Life has been coming at me at a mile a minute and now with the kids just about to finish the school year up, I'd better buckle up. I found a couple extra hours of free time today and what a better way than to create a layout for the Page Maps contest.
My digital camera has taken a turn for the worse, so I've had to go old school for my photos. I pulled out my old SLR camera and a roll of 35mm film. Most of you are probably thinking...do they even develop film any more? Yep, they do...but you've got to wait a week for it and it cost a small fortune. But, I always loved the results of the pictures I got from my oldie, but goodie Cannon. It's so hard to take pictures and not know exactly what you're gonna get in a blink of an eye. But...I'm holding out and savin' up for a DSLR I've had my eye on for quite some time.
Here is my version of Becky's sketch. These are my two youngest children. I know I must torture them with what seems like a million request to take their pictures. But, I'm glad that I was able to get two good pictures from a roll of 24 exposure film. (I did get one more good pic of my husband, but he didn't make it on this page.) And, yes I said TWO pictures. I had the film developed and put on a CD and then printed only what I would scrap. A girls got to do what a girls gotta do when it comes to getting some quality prints now and then!
When I sat down to create a layout, I decided I'd make my own "Mister Huey" type of misting sprays. Gotta love YouTube! All you need is a bottle, craft paint, clear glue (I used glossy accents) and last but not least water. Put all those things in a bottle, shake and spray. Very cool! I started off with making a white spray....not sure what I'm gonna mix up next. I guess that will depend on what I'm going to scrap next. You can go to YouTube for loads of videos of crafters making the sprays.
